In this blog post, I will discuss why I believe we need to start looking for google analytics alternatives. It is increasingly relevant both in terms of changes in technology, laws like GDPR, and the ePrivacy Directive. With the Schrems II case and the attention, it has gotten it clear to me that we need to look elsewhere for web analytics. If you live in a country that is bound by GDPR Google Analytics **MAY** be illegal due to transmitting personal data outside of the EU. Furthermore, reflect on if we the website owners are getting enough out of their web analytics data or if the alternatives could provide an increased value and benefits by taking more control and ownership of the data.
